The Art Nouveau movement gained popularity in the late nineteenth century. During the time it was called Jugendstil, which literally means the style of youth. The movement was also known as the Modern Liberty and Stile in Italy. In Hungary and Austria, the term was known as secession. A Czech artist named Alphonse Mucha influenced the style by creating a poster in 1895 that combined nature and modern technology. This poster, titled Alfonse Mucha, 1895, became known as the Mucha style.
