Our statues bronzes are manufactured in China. They are made with the lost wax technique, by real artists. Each piece is first shaped in a wax sculpture, which is then covered with a mould of refractory material. The mold is then filled with bronze melted, cooled, and then broken to extract the bronze sculpture. Each piece is unique.
The "lost wax" is the only technique used by the artisans of our art foundry to create our bronze statues. The moulding process is done from an original sculpture in wax to which is welded by the edge elements tapered called jets and filaments called vents (cones and filaments are also in wax). The whole is then coated with a refractory cement ensuring that leave to exceed the base of the cones. After solidification of the coating, the wax will be evacuated by the heat, leaving a hollow which will be filled through the jets. The vents allow for both the evacuation of air and a good distribution of the material in the details of the mold. This mould must then be destroyed by mechanical means or chemical to recover the copy made. It will then be rid of the traces of the jets and vents. This technique is also used for the realization of unique pieces in glass or metal. However, it is possible to carry out several waxes from the wax original using a flexible mould, formerly of gelatin and today silicone. This technique is also used in industry for the production of parts of high accuracy.
The bronze sculptures are inspired by the most beautiful models artists, whose works are in the public domain (it is legal to reproduce).
Warriors Xian – China
The terracotta statues are faithful reproductions of the warriors of the Chinese army of emperor Qin Shi, carried out according to the traditional methods of terracotta in the region of Xian. As with the originals, their heads are removable.
The First Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huangdi (v. -259 – September 10, -210), was first the king of Qin to -247 to -221. The emperor, still haunted by the immortality, appealed to a magician. It made him the famous "red beads" of cinnabar (sulphide of mercury), which is supposed to give him, each, six years of life. Made up of mercury, the "red beads" were probably the cause of his death.
We must to the emperor Qin's mausoleum in Xi'an, which covers about 56 km2. The tomb itself is covered with a mound, the top of 115m. Still intact and inviolate, the tomb of Qin is drowned in rivers of mercury. A 1.5 kilometre from here, several pits contain some seven thousand statues of soldiers and horses in terracotta. Not wanting to be alone after death, Qin Shi Huang ordered that his entire army is carved into the earth and be buried with him. He therefore built thousands of soldiers, terra cotta horses and chariots, all different from each other (appearance, clothing, position of the arms) and a little larger than nature (a soldier measuring between 1.72 m and 2m). In 1974, peasants found these statues while digging a well in their field. They then went on to appeal to archaeologists. We can now admire part of the statues unearthed by chinese archaeologists (about 1,500 on more than 7,000). This set is rightly regarded as one of the wonders of the world. The tomb is located under the mound, for its part, has not yet been excavated.
