In the Greek mythology, Poseidon is the god of the raging seas and oceans, as well as the "ground shaker" god of earthquakes and springs. His main symbol is the trident, which he receives from the Cyclopes during the Titanomachy; he is also symbolized by the bull, and especially the horse. The Romans equate him with Neptune.
