A kouros (plural kouroi) is the statues of a young man, dating from the archaic period of the greek sculpture (from -650 to -500)
The kouroi were created at a time when Greece was under the cultural influence of Ancient Egypt, as can be seen by their characteristic rigid pose, reminiscent of the statues of ancient Egyptian kings.
