Art Deco, a refined and popular style at the beginning of the century
Art Deco is a decorative style popular during the 1920s and 1930s. Its name comes from the Paris Exposition of 1925. The design is often based on geometric shapes. Its lines are very similar to those of architectural structures. There are many similarities between the Art Deco desk and the contemporary desk.
The most important elements are rounded and strong. The style of the 1930s was influenced by the modern movement in art. Bauhaus, Cubism and Orphephism were major influences. In addition to the modernist style, the early style incorporated Egyptian and American Indian sources into its decorations. The use of bright colors and stylized floral motifs is also typical of the 30s. This design was associated with a vibrant style in the 1920s.
