How to Make a Tiffany Stained Glass Lamp

Tiffany Baroque lamp with an iron baseTiffany art deco lamp with a white background

Our Tiffany lamps are made in China using the Louis Comfort Tiffany method.

Louis Comfort Tiffany's company offered more than 1902 lamp models in 300. A mass production method was invented in order to produce refined and quality models in large quantities. Our factory in China applies the same manufacturing methods. While a Tiffany lamp old can sell for several hundred thousand euros (in 1985, a Tiffany lamp sold at auction for $528.000), the price of a reproduction is on average €100 to €200. The stained glass windows of the light fixtures are made by hand. The factory employs employees specially trained to manufacture and assemble the artisanal glass using the Louis Comfort Tiffany method. We follow all the stages of manufacture and demand a perfect level of finish. The most elaborate stained glass windows require hundreds of hours of work: a Tiffany lamp can be composed of several hundred pieces of stained glass. The pieces are set with a copper ribbon, assembled, then soldered with tin. You can find in our lighting store, Tiffany lamps sold at the best price.

The bronze sculptures are made in China using the lost wax method.

Mythological bronze statue representing AtlasBronze statue of a horse.

Our bronze statues are made in China. They are made using the lost wax method, by real artists. Each piece is first shaped into a wax sculpture, which is then covered with a mold made of refractory material. The mold is then filled with bronze melted, cooled, then broken to extract the bronze sculpture. Each piece is therefore unique.

La "lost wax" is the only technique used by the artisans of our art foundry to create our bronze statuesThe casting process is done from an original wax sculpture to which conical elements called jets and filaments called vents (cones and filaments are also made of wax) are welded by the tip. The whole is then coated with refractory cement, taking care to leave the base of the cones protruding. After solidification of the coating, the wax will be evacuated by heat, leaving a hollow which will be filled via the jets. The vents allow both the evacuation of air and a good distribution of the material in the details of the mold. This mold must then be destroyed mechanically or chemically to recover the copy produced. This must then be cleared of traces of the jets and vents. This technique is also used for the production of unique pieces in glass or metal. However, it is possible to produce several waxes from the original wax using a flexible mold, formerly made of gelatin and today made of silicone. This technique is also used in industry to obtain high-precision parts.

The bronze sculptures are inspired by the most beautiful models of artists, whose works have fallen into the public domain (it is legal to reproduce them).

Warriors Xian – China

Statuette of a Chinese Xian warriorXian Terracotta Warriors Statues

The terracotta statues are faithful reproductions of the warriors of the Chinese army of Emperor Qin Shi, made using the ancestral terracotta methods of the Xian region. Like the originals, their heads are removable.

The First Emperor of China, qin shi huangdi (c. -259 – September 10, -210), was first the king of Qin from -247 to -221. The emperor, still haunted by immortality, called upon a magician. The latter made him the famous "red pearls" of cinnabar (mercury sulfide) supposed to give him, each, six years of life. Made of mercury, the "red pearls" were probably the cause of his death.

The Xi'an Mausoleum, which covers an area of about 56 km², is the work of Emperor Qin. The tomb itself is covered by a 115m high tumulus. Still intact and untouched, Qin's tomb is submerged in rivers of mercury. 1,5 kilometres away, several pits contain some seven thousand terracotta statues of soldiers and horses. Not wanting to be alone after death, Qin Shi Huang ordered that his entire army be sculpted in earth and buried with him. He therefore had thousands of terracotta soldiers, horses and chariots built, all different from each other (physiognomy, clothing, position of the arms) and a little larger than life (a soldier measuring between 1,72m and 2m). In 1974, peasants found these statues while digging a well in their field. They then called in archaeologists. We can now admire some of the statues unearthed by Chinese archaeologists (about 1.500 out of more than 7.000). This ensemble is rightly considered one of the wonders of the world. The tomb located under the tumulus, for its part, has not yet been excavated.

Product Availability Our company specializes in the sale of reproductions of period and art deco furniture requiring long and meticulous carpentry and cabinetmaking work. Our reproductions are made with the greatest care, in small series of 4 to 10 pieces. Our stocks of art deco furniture and period furniture are therefore limited to 1 to 6 pieces. Some models may therefore be out of stock when you wish to place your order. They are then invisible or impossible to add to the order basket. However, we are replenished very regularly, and unavailable pieces are generally available within a few days to a few weeks. Armchairs and chairs have a faster manufacturing process. They are available in larger quantities and our stocks are replenished very quickly.

Aviator armchairs

The models are inspired by models made in the 1950s in America, once assembled with parts from scrapped aircraft. Our aviator chairs are made with hand-riveted aluminum plates. For a vintage effect they are hand-brushed, the seats and backrests are padded with foam to ensure good comfort. These seats are handcrafted in China.
