The DC 3 club armchair takes its name from the wide-body aircraft designed by the Douglas Company. This aircraft accompanied the development of civil aviation in the 1940s. It could be found in the fleet of American airlines such as the TWA or the American Airline. Today it is still possible to admire these planes in flight, during air shows and to see their engines at full power during their use during these events.

These planes were extremely safe, technically advanced but also beautiful. Travelling by air was therefore an opportunity to access a universe combining comfort and elegance with ingenuity.

The DC 3 club armchair we offer here is inspired by the memory of these legendary devices. Above all, this furniture will allow your guests to rest and enjoy your sense of hospitality. Their 1930s line will contribute to the charm of your interior by blending in with the decoration, the favorite is assured.

These aviator-style armchairs symbolize a modern aesthetic associated with technical progress. Whether in your living room or office, they can only delight your guests or your associates. At the time, these armchairs were designed to provide comfort and tranquillity for passengers, even in the midst of turbulence.

They were fluffy enough to absorb the jolts of the aircraft and ensure a perfectly roborative journey. They are then ideal for relaxing moments in a cozy space in the company of your friends or family.

High-quality furniture

They are made with solid rubber wood frame covered with riveted aluminum plates and clad in a natural cowhide seat. Part of the backrest is covered with a coating reminiscent of chrome aluminum sheets visible on the fuselage of airliners. It has the same rivets as the aircraft of the time.

The seat of the armchair is lined with full-flower vintage leather worked by hand to ensure better comfort, by leather craftsmen. The backrest and seat are covered by seams at the saddle point going from the inside to the outside. They bring out the seating bulges to improve the comfort of the occupant. With a spring seat seat and straps covered with a polyurethane foam to ensure better comfort.

These armchairs are available in several colours (brown, black, red, creamy white...) and go well with antique furniture as well as furniture by contemporary designers. Their "vintage" spirit won't swear with state-of-the-art appliances either.

One of the peculiarities of the aluminium aviator armchair is to rest only on three feet divided into triangles. Some much rarer models rest on a single pivotable foot and can rotate on themselves.

Installation and maintenance

These armchairs are large: 83 centimetres wide and 71 centimetres long. They position the user near the ground, the height of the chair is only 44 centimeters. It is advisable to provide a large amount of space in their surroundings.

The chassis has a rounded shape reminiscent of a "U" and the backrest allows for a tilt of more than 90 degrees. So install them far enough away from the walls to allow the occupant to fully extend with the neck and shoulders free. This furniture can finally be embellished by a footrest belonging to the same range of furniture inspired by aviation.

The maintenance of this armchair is simple: the back and the leather seat can be easily cleaned with a cloth on which you have applied moisturizing milk. This treatment will soften the leather and prevent the appearance of crevices.

The aluminum coating cleans as simply as a mirror with an alcohol-based cleaner. Wooden planks require only a varnish intended for this type of surface. Whether it's listening to music, reading a book or chatting with your friends, these armchairs will allow you complete relaxation. Are you ready for takeoff?
