The luminaries of the 1910s to 1930s are part of the art and decoration movement that began around 1910 and declined after the 1929 crisis. All the following decades inspired many artists, such as Jean Dunand who created the "Lamp Coprin". In France the period of art and decoration was called the period, while in Germany it was the Bauhaus period, which takes its name from the School of Architecture

The styles are sometimes very different with the brand Degué, the feet of the lamps are often wrought iron with molded and pressed glass blinds. While other companies like Ilrin prefer lighter and opalescent lights with white opalines, which produce fixtures for art deco-style desks and lamps for professionals.
